Hi. I just picked up a 420d X drive coupe and I think I have spotted a design fault but please excuse me if this has previously been noted. The windscreen wipers can't be lifted off the windscreen as the bonnet or hood edge gets in the way. Has anybody noticed this. Bri

I take it as a feature, not a bug. :) This way, wipers blades can't be stolen. :)) If you want to change them, you probably have to stop them in vertical position on the windscreen. I don't know how exactly, as I didn't try yet.
Btw, they can't be lifted up with the bonnet opened either.

It's me again, there is a procedure described in the vehicle owner's manual:

To "lift" them:
1. Switch the ignition on and off again.
2. Press the wiper lever up beyond the point of resistance and hold it for approx. 3 seconds, until the wiper remains in a nearly vertical position.

Don't forget to put them back:
Before switching the ignition on, fold the wipers back down to the windshield; otherwise, the wipers may become damaged when they are activated.
1. Switch on the ignition.
2. Push wiper lever down. Wipers move to their resting position and are ready again for operation.
