If anything it won't be till the next generation of BMWs till they do anything about the idea of making the manual transmission obsolete.
That's more like it, consdering next gen models will be around when this decade is up and where the industry is going, I can see that happening.

By then we'll probably have high gear automatic transmissions, no manual

its the 428 that wont be coming with the manual option, I know because I had my heart set on a 428i with M6 but when i ran it through the configurator i noticed no Manual!! anyone know if the 228i will suffer the same fate? Because now im in no mans land decision wise. I dont know if i should jump up to 435i and swallow the extra 5-10K or drop down to a 228i or 235i. Id go 228i if manual is an option... but 235i seems like a gokart from **** :D:D

so much for the ultimate driving machine, really disappointing

There is an allure to driving with a manual but it will be cool to have manuals only on older cars. It will make the manual BMWs in the future a collector's item.

Kind of strange that they are not offering manual on just one vehicle. What makes the 428i special? Does it have something to do with the transmission of that car, or was it just a business choice?
