Hi all!

New to this forum. Picked up my 420d just before Christmas. I was driving a 118d coupe before so it's a nice upgrade!

Happy new year to you all!! :)

I wish we got 4 series diesel models where i'm located.
How are you liking your new 420D? any likes/dislikes about it?

A few niggly faults with the electrics (looks like you've seen in my other post) but I love the car.

Drives much nicer than my 1. It feels like a much higher quality car; more refined and smoother and surprisingly quick! It's a beautiful looking thing and because it's a diesel I still get my low emissions space at work :)

My only complaint (and it's the same with all BMWs) is that the seat belt cuts right across my neck no matter how much I adjust the seat. I think it's probably because I'm only 5'4" and bmw don't offer any seat belt adjustments.

Thought I'd update with some photos! Sorry for the poor quality and she's pretty dirty as well.

lookin good. glad to see you got a manual too!

as for the seat belt cutting across your neck you might be able to find aftermarket solutions. they make these lowering brackets you buy that will lower the seat belt

just make sure you buy the best one that money can buy. safety is the most important aspect of the car.

And honestly having it cut across your neck is not a good measure for safety so look into changing or modifying the belt bracket to make it safer.

my girlfriend has this same problem being the same height.

Manual all the way! Automatics aren't for real driving :p

Do you think this would work? Seat belt positioner

I don't see how altering the bracket will work with the seat belt extender. I might enquire with my dealer although my last dealer just told me to get a booster seat :dodgy:

Automatics have some benefit, you do get max performance out of it, but of course theres a lack a driver connection to the vehicle with that

It's all personal preference I guess. I've never driven an automatic before in my life (saying that, I'm only 22) but that's not to say I wouldn't be converted in the future. I hate getting stuck in traffic with a manual!

Looks awesome.. How is the 420d ?? I am planning on getting the 4 series and want to know how the drive is.
It's amazing. The drive is great! Nice for commuting in comfort mode but definitely has that extra grunt when you knock it into sport. In hindsight I'd have gone for the M Sport but I guess that gives me something to upgrade to in the future :p

Have you test driven one yet? That's probably the best way to get an idea of the drive for yourself!
