We've got new info on the upcoming BMW 6-Series.
The new 6-Series will ride on a new platform that will first be seen on the 2016 7-Series. The 'CLAR' platform uses lightweight materials like magnesium, aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber. That should let the new 6-Series shed 440 pounds over the current model.
The new 6-Series will come in coupe, gran coupe and convertible body styles. The gran coupe will get a slight bit longer to make a more spacious cabin, but the two door models will both go down in size. This should make the new 6 sportier and more nimble to drive.
All 6s will be available with a 347-horsepower 3.0-liter gas-burning straight six, a 3.0-liter straight-six turbodiesel rated at 333 horsepower and a 4.4-liter V8 that can produce 476 hp. The M6 will have the same V8 engines tuned for 600 horsepower.
This coupe should show up in dealerships in 2017 as a 2018 model.
