British publication Autocar joined forces with PistonHeads.com to answer a question no one seemed to be asking, which of the RC-F, M4, Cayman GT4 and i8 is fastest in a straight line?

The results were surprising, somewhat. At first the RC-F won with a commanding gap back to the second place i8 followed closely by the Cayman, with the M4 languishing in the back. After accusations of jump starts they ran the test again.

The reason we say Autocar embarrassed the M4 is that everyone knows the M4 is no drag car, but put it on the twisty bits and it would most definitely give the Cayman a run for its money...

Enjoy!

Lol, the rear tires were smoking. At least the i8 performed very well and only lost by a small margin the second time. Still a win for BMW.

still a shame the bad boy cant hook it up though...
What's a shame is that the "professional auto journalist" driving the car didn't take the time to become familiar with launch control prior to making his run.

It makes the car look bad but makes the driver look even worse.
