The new 4 Series has a larger footprint than the outgoing 3-Series Coupe.

the 4 Series wheelbase grew by 50 millimetres (to 2,810 mm) and the track as widened by 43 mm up front and 80 mm at the back axle. BMW kept overhangs short and brings the 4 out with 50/50 weight distro.

Ride height was lowered by 10 mm, dropping the centre of gravity. The body was stiffened (up 60 per cent) and it shaves 45 kilograms in the process.

What does not change for the 4 Series is the suspension. Combined with the stronger platform, it is equally well suited to loafing along the highway as it is dealing with the rigours of Estoril. The 435i's M Sport suspension (an option on the 428i) should show minimal body roll, same goes for understeer. As always expect handling both balanced and neutral.

SWEEEEET, i didnt know the 4 series was getting wider than the 3. Ive test driven the 3 series a couple times in comparo to my GT and the feeling was fantastic. If the 4 series is expected to be even better i know im making the right choice here
