Hi folks,

I've joined up because I'm looking for some information on the 4 series cars.

We currently have a 2012 320d convertible and a 2009 318i saloon.
Current plan is to update the convertible to the 420d and the saloon to the 320i/330i Gran Coupe.

So you are planning on buying two BMWs? Are you planning on buying those at the same time or pretty far apart? Just curious.

Are you completely decided on these models, or are you considering any others (BMW or otherwise)?

Yes, two of them.
One for my wife (convertible) and one for myself.

She just wants the 4 series convertible, which she will get once her lease runs out on the 3 series mid this year.

I'm a bit more picky but once I decide I'll be buying straight away.
I'm balancing up cost/power/practicality/sportiness/comfort.
Current choices are 4 series Gran Coupe, 3 series saloon, M135i, Mercedes C Class.

My preference right now is the Gran Coupe- I like the look of it, it seems very practical, just a hit expensive compared to the 3 series.

Hmmmm... I ran some PCP numbers.

I can get a 340i for pretty much the same mostly cost as what the 420i will cost me with pretty much the same stuff in it.
BMW are doing £6500 contribution on the 340i and only £1100 on the 420i.

I don't do huge miles so running costs aren't as much a factor as it would be for someone doing 20k a year.

So it becomes a question of looks vs power.

Long time since I last posted.

I ended up going for a hugely discounted M135i and a 4 series convertible.
I've had the M135i for the last 6 months but the 4 series turned up a few days ago.

Very happy.
