Hi guys, well I'm probably one of the few people who got their 420i Sport with a manual gearbox. Everything is good, but I notice that 1st to 2nd is a bit notchy, takes some concentration to make it, 2nd to 3rd and all other changes seem smooth and natural. I noticed it when I had a test drive, so I'm presuming its the same for everybody. Comments?
Other than that, loving my car.

Still to take some proper photos. Sad to say I had a drive train error message appear and the car wouldn't start. Turned out to be a faulty fuel pump. Replaced under warranty, but not a good start.

Definitely not good. But that's why we buy new cars isn't it? Mines had some computer issues but I just drove it straight back to the dealer and threw my keys on the desk haha

Same on my 428i. 1st and 2nd can be slightly notchy from cold. Something I have noticed on all BMW's I have driven.
For 1st and 2nd its easier if you fully depress the clutch or sometimes it doesn't engage properly, the other gears are much easier. Also the gearbox doesn't like to be rushed.
My problem is I been used to driving a 5 speed for so long, I forget I have the 6th gear.

I haven't had any shifting problems in my manual 428i. I have driven numerous manual transmission (this one replacing a hyundai gen coupe 3.8 track and before that an acura CL) and find this one as crisp and clean as any other. It is much cleaner than the acura. It is a joy to drive.

I have an 428i and I find that the car jerks the most shifting from 1st to 2nd. The way around is either ride the clutch, let the rpms drop, or shift earlier (2.5k). All of these lead to a slow take off. any other suggestions?

I also had a fuel pump issue at about 3,500 miles on my 428i xdrive convertible. Car stalled while stopped at a light (auto transmission), couldn't get it to start and had to be towed to the local dealer. They replaced the fuel pump under warranty but I wasn't a happy camper!
