Theres a BMW Technical Service Bulletin; B51 33 16 dated July 2019 that covers some of these issues. My previous 430D F33 was modified in accordance with these instructions and it cured the problem. My current 435D F33 had this same issue and it was also modified by the supplying dealer in Doncaster. Unfortunately if was not sucessful and the boot filled with water on several occasions. The supplying dealer was advised, following an insection by BMW, that a joint in the boot had separated and needed re-welding by a specialist chemical process. The car was away for over a month while this was sorted but since its return has been completely dry.
