BMW is releasing a brand new touchscreen infotainment system in the near future.

The new technology will alter BMW interior design. While we don't know exactly what it will look like, BMW has made it clear that it will not be a Tesla-like flat dashboard. It seems more likely that the BMW design will utilize flexible screens. Such a design will integrate display and shape.

According to Adrian van Hooydonk, director of BMW Group design, says that there will be a transition period where both rotary-controller touch-screen control will be used. He also said, “head-up display will be a big part of that” and “the new technology will allow us to take bigger steps in the design of interiors, as well."

Hopefully they don't take away anything from their current system that we love, iDrive is fantastic.

It sounds like mostly they are experimenting with new touch screen tech. And by that I mean screens that are flexible. Curved screens or screens that can actually flex will open up a bunch of possibilities to designers.
