It's not every year that the most successful luxury car maker in the world turns 100. That's why BMW has big plans to celebrate its 100th birthday in 2016. BMW is said to be preparing a lighter and more powerful version of the upcoming M4.

The vehicle will get lighter by using carbon fiber on the hood and front fender, as well as the roof and trunk lid. The rear seat will be deep-sixed, Alcantara will replace leather, and the standard power-adjustable front seats will probably be swapped out for carbon fiber shell units.

People on this forum will also be happy to hear that the 100th birthday M4 will come exclusively with a manual six-speed gearbox. None of this automatic-only crap.

DCT IS NOT AUTOMATIC. There are 2 clutches that alternate during flipping gears. A DCT WILL NOT shift up or down for you, although it wont let you shift from 5th to 1st as a fail safe.

Thats cool sounds like the Return of the M3 GTS or M3 CSL but just now the M4 gets to start its own legacy. Lovely that it will be coming with three pedals, but please lay off the DCT hate.

Should be a great limited edition model. And with all the carbon fiber they are adding in you will feel light as a feather when you are driving around. The carbon fiber will also make the car look pretty sweet. Would you get it in Estoril Blue? Seems like the only real color choice.
