The BMW M6 GT3 has made its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show serving as the replacement for the BMW Z4 GT3.
Boasting numerous improvements over its predecessor, the M6 GT3 uses a series-produced engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that has a higher horsepower output and more torque than the current Z4 GT3’s powerplant, although BMW didn’t release exact specifications. What the German automaker did reveal is that the M6 GT3 weighs less than 2,866 pounds and has a centrally-positioned driver’s seat. It also has a longer wheelbase that promises to deliver better handling characteristics compared to the Z4. Oh yeah, it will also cost a cool $428,000.
The powerplant will be mated to a six-speed racing gearbox and BMW is currently going through the final round of testing prior to its race debut in the coming year. Numerous private teams are expected to campaign the BMW M6 GT3 for the 2016 race season. You can expect it to compete in endurance races worldwide next year.
