BMW has confirmed that they will be producing an M4 GT4 race car variant to compete with the growing list of manufacturers offering FIA GT4-spec cars.

Of course due to regulations, the M4 GT4 will be very similar to the standard M4 drivetrain wise. The twin-turbocharged 3.0L straight 6 that produces 425 horsepower to the rear wheels is what will be staying in there. This is what will help keep costs down as well as reliability up.

Of course as a GT4 car, changes have to be made. Those enhancements will include carbon fiber paneling, splitters and a wing, stripped interior, high-flow exhaust system, and obviously, some more intense brakes.

This is going to appeal to a wider set of racers considering it will be noticeably lower in cost than other manufacturer GT4 competition such as McLaren, Aston Martin, Porsche, etc.

The BMW M4 GT4 will be ready for delivery by the opening motorsports season in 2018, so we should be seeing updates somewhere along the way. Most likely mid-way through 2017.

So BMW is going to allow people to purchase a GT4 spec machine? I can't see them building more than a few of these as a limited model run.

I'm sure it'll be really limited, but I'm wondering if they're going to have restrictions on owners as to where they can take the car to utilize it. Doesn't seem like anything that isn't going to be road legal, but the might be picky on track days.

This is not intended for road use, it's purely for the track, or just off-road purposes if you want to put it in a single category. So considering that why would there be any restrictions? tracks, shows, events, etc. is where it would show up, BMW can't have a problem with that and they haven't been like that in the past.

So regular people won't be able to buy it and it'll be for race teams ?
You should know, you wrote this blurb, unless it was copied from somewhere. But lets simplify it....

"The BMW M4 GT4 will be ready for delivery by the opening motorsports season in 2018"
what does that quote from your blurb tell you?
If you can't figure that out, do us a favor and leave this forum LOL.

Well of course I read the information somewhere, I don't have a mole on the inside :nerd:

BUT I definitely admit, that was an epic fail on my end. Now I'm trying to go over this and figure out where along the lines I thought otherwise :shy:
