Somewhere else i heard they have further plans to go all electric. Only a matter of time till we start hearing about plans for an all-electric 4 series... something i actually can't wait for.
BMW announces new engine for the 4-series
BMW is going to offer additional engines and equipment for many of its models from march of this year.
The 4-Series will be receiving some new engines. The entry-level 418d Coupe offers 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque. It will launch March 2015.
The 420d Coupe, 420xDrive Coupe, 420d Gran Coupe and 420d xDrive Gran Coupe will all receive an improved 2.0-liter diesel that produces 190 HP and 400 Nm of torque. That represents a 7 HP and 20 Nm increase in hp and torque respectively over what was previously offered.
The M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible (along with the M3 Sedan) will gain an extended range of BMW Individual equipment options. This includes a selection of new body colors, a range of enhanced leather upholsteries and a color-matched leather-covered instrument panel.

I think all electric is a little ways down the road though. Like in the next 5-10 years that will happen.
