A study from the Institute of Personality and Social Research at UC Berkeley has found that bad driving habits and wealth are correlated. The more money you have, the worse driver you are. The study examined vehicles approaching intersections with pedestrians, where they are required to stop and how well they take turns at 4-way-stop intersections. Luxury car drivers were found to be the worst drivers, specifically BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Prius drivers. These drivers were more likely to ignore traffic laws and go when it is not their turn at intersections.

Are you one of these terrible drivers? Do you have an explanation other than wealth that explains BMW drivers bad driving habits?

Maybe the wealthier people just figure that they have the money to pay the fines easier. They see it less as breaking the law and more as paying to break the law (and that's only when you get caught.)

Rich people think they are above the law. I'd believe that slightly. It's never nice generalizing people, but you can't argue with science. Although, this study took place only in Southern California, so maybe in another city/region it is some other brand of car that holds the title of douchiest drivers.

I always try to stop for pedestrians, they are trying to get somewhere, and it will likely take them much long er than you to complete their journey.
