The new M4 will use 80% different parts from the stock 4 Series. The new hi-po coupe will use a bespoken version of BMW's new family engine, a completely reborn suspension and a 7-speed dual clutch gearchanger.

The emphasis on weight has never been more important. The base 4 Series was developed with xDrive all-wheel-drive in mind, the M4 will use a different chassis rear-wheel-drive exclusively. Sending power to all four corners makes things too heavy.

At this moment it'll be hard to gauge how much horsepower the M4 variant will have compared to the other 4 series.

I wouldn't think BMW would make the same mistake with their last M3. All it took the 335i was a couple parts upgrade like bigger intercooler, downpipe, injectors, and flash update to achieve the same amount of power as the M3 V8 and I think it actually made more.

Um yeah sure it might be possible to achieve the same horsepower but it will be way out of it's reliable zone.

and to add to that the 335i Coupe did not feel anywhere close to the M3's handling. It was decent but not perfect for the second highest trim.

If what they say is true about the how different the M4 is going to be = then there should be no argument.

Seeing how you were mentioning the x drive all wheel drive and the name M4 kind of scared me in to thinking that BMW will be releasing the M4 with an awd drivetrain. phewww! That would of killed it for me.

M4 is rumored to be equipped with a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, so this time the M4 will also be ready for easy tuning gains like the 335i. A tuned BMW M4 is going to be a wicked fast RWD coupe. A future classic, undoubtedly.
