4-Series to be rivaled by Lexus RC

This shouldn't come as news to people who know the auto industry, but Lexus is coming out with the RC to rival the strong BMW 3-Series sedans (soon to be 4-Series.) With the new Lexus model comes a name change from Lexus IS Coupe to Lexus RC. The dual moves by both BMW and Lexus to change the name of their vehicles is supposed to bring further exclusivity and brand recognition to the new models.

What do you think of the name change by both companies and do you think Lexus has a chance at eating away some of BMW's market share?

Lexus has tried for long to eat away at BMWs market. Does it work? Hmmmm..

I'd say Lexus should be watched by BMW but I don't think BMW needs to worry.

All previous attempts by Lexus haven't been so successful in terms of a performance standpoint.

Sales on the other hand? I do think some BMW owners have left to go to Lexus but I don't think enough to make BMW suffer any bit.

I am very interested to see what the new RC is going to be like. Even the new IS-F should be very interesting.

Another name change?! Wow everyone is jumping on the whole name change game. Doesn't matter to me how Lexus does I have never been interested in their designs much. Bmw kills them by performance anyways.

I don't know man, The Lexus RC looks pretty good to me. It looks super aggressive but in some ways Lexus needed to bring back some coupes to prep up the performance line again. It's been a while since I have seen a coupe from them.

Let's just say there will be a fight. Depending on the Lexus Rc's performance we can then see how good of a fight it will be.

Not a bad looking car though. Not that hard to just change things up to two doors from four. And it took a while.

It'll receive the same criticism as the lexus IS

Some will like the new look. Some absolutely hate it.

It's what you get for going with such a daring look. For all we know the RC could just be a coupe version of the IS350.

I heard the basemodel Lexus RC will have a 2.0T engine, probably the same engine as the BRZ/FRS but with a turbo?

it would make for a great rival to the 428.

What does Lexus/Toyota have access to that is as 2.0T that is powerful enough... hmmm

By the looks of the RC it is just much a new IS but in coupe form.

where does the 2.0t come from? I never knew toyota and lexus had a two liter turbo with a turbocharger. well at least not in the current lines of vehicles they offer.

I'm not sure how that 2.0T will fair against the competition.

This could be a cheap low priced vehicle if that is true.
