Windshield replacement.

My wife just bought a used 2018 BMW 430i convertible . It has an existing small rock chip on the windshield that was repaired but is unsightly in her eyes. Ours doesn't have a heads up display or passing vehicle detection. Got a quote from Safelite ($439), but an autobody guy I know says the windshield may be a structural component and suggested BMW glass (haven't gotten a quote on that yet). If anyone has any info in this regard, it would be appreciated. As newbies to BMW's we'd like to know if there is any reason not to go with Safelite ?
