Sweet Tooth Remember that Lexus sold the most units in North America for a number of years. It's totally possible for the to overtake them again.

BMW On Track to Win 2015 Luxury Sales Race

Sales at BMW were up 3.2 percent in November, bringing the brand’s yearly total to 311,398 vehicles sold, a year-over-year improvement of 4.4 percent. If BMW does sell the most luxury cars in 2015, it will mark back-to-back sales crowns.

Meanwhile at Mercedes, sales at the brand fell by 13 percent in November, bringing its yearly total to 308,885 vehicles, a year-over-year increase of about 4 percent.

Lexus sales are just behind Mercedes, with a yearly total so far of 303,221 vehicles, which is a 12 percent increase over last year. It was 2010 the last time Lexus won the luxury sales race. The Japanese brand began its year-end sales early this year, boosting incentives by 19 percent in November, but it won’t likely be enough to catch BMW.

Overall, total U.S. vehicle sales rose 1.2 percent in November to 1.3 million units sold. Year-to-date, the U.S. has bought 15.8 million vehicles, which is just 1.6 million units shy of the overall U.S. sales record.

Despite declining sales in November, Acura currently sits in the fourth spot with 160,342 sales. In fifth is Cadillac, which has moved 154,480 units year-to-date. If its lead remains, 2015 will be the first time that Acura has beat both Cadillac and Lincoln.
