martinbrown2382 It should help to keep BMW in the lead among luxury brands for sure. They seem to set the trend and then other follow it.

webbrowan BMW has always been producing quality products in all of its ranges so far. When it comes to a niche product such as the carbon-fibre model release, I am certain it will deliver its promise as to how it has been described.

In a world first in a volume model like the 7 Series, BMW has bonded carbonfibre into load-bearing parts of the structure, significantly improving rigidity and also helping to reduce weight dramatically and thus improve fuel economy.
BMW calls the structure of the new 7 Series the 'carbon core'. It's been developed using learning and know-how from the i sub-brand, which is based 20 miles or so away from the Dingolfing production site that's home to the 7 Series.
Sounds quite promising. BMW seems to be at the forefront of carbon fiber engineering. I just wonder how long it will take for other companies to catch up. It certainly will be a huge advantage for BMW while the other companies lag behind.
