Beware

Hi everyone, I'm posting this to reach as many people as I can. I bought a new bmw 4 series in 2015. It has a full service history through BMW. Then just a few months ago - it caught fire and blew up on the m6 motorway. I barely managed to get out as the doors had jammed. I hate to think about what would have happened if children were in the back. Bmw have refused to take any responsibility for this and have also refused to issue a recall on the 4 series - this obviously would be a big problem for them. They have turned a blind eye. So please guys, don't go near the 4 series! Warn your family and friends too! Especially those with kids. Please see the pictures attached! Go for a Mercedes or Audi instead

One isolated incident in a 2015 is no reason to say don't buy any BMW. If it was a major problem with BMW in general or with the 4 series in 2015 we would have heard about a recall and other news. If you are able to prove it was their fault via an attorney and evidence they probably would pay attention. And it may not be BMW's fault at all. It may be the fault of failure to maintain the vehicle or improper maintenance done.

5 Common Reasons for Car Fires
5 Common Reasons for Car Fires - Blog
Every day numerous vehicles ply on the road taking us from one destination to another. For many people around the world, cars are common commutation options. While these are quite convenient transportation options, they are prone to various kinds of accidents. Car fire is one of them.

There are various incidents of cars catching fire on the road occurring every year. A car fire can be caused due to a variety of reasons which can include mechanical failures, driver errors and so on. Once a car catches fire, any additional factors can aggravate the situation.

The impact of car fires can be dangerous. If there is a leakage in the engine fluid containers and pipes, it could result in an explosion, thus resulting in various complications. It can result in grave injuries and, in severe cases, can claim lives as well.

Car Accident

One of the most common causes of a car catching fire is a car accident. This depends on the area of the car that has sustained the maximum impact. For example, an accident that affects the gas tank of the car can cause the fuel to leak, thus resulting in a car fire. Even though various cars have metal sheets protecting these crucial zones of the car to ensure that absorbs the blow, but accidents that cause major impacts can still result in a leakage.

The contact of the fluids of the car with the heat generated by the accident can quickly start a fire. Therefore, it is important to quickly get out of the car after the accident and move a large distance away from the accident spot and then contact the right authorities.

Improper Maintenance

Failing to maintain a car and keeping it in proper shape is one of the major causes of car fires. Various kinds of maintenance issue can spark a fire. For example, any frayed wiring can turn out to be dangerous if it comes in contact with any flammable materials. Therefore, it is important to get your car serviced at regular intervals.

Basic inspections can be carried by car owners. Brakes should be checked whether they are working properly. Tires should be checked for over or under inflation. Steering systems and suspension should be checked regularly. Fluid levels should be up to the mark. Any vehicle failure should be taken care of immediately.

Proper maintenance will ensure that the car should not undergo any accident owing to any mechanical failure. Therefore, chances of fire can be averted considerably.

Aftermarket Accessories

Many of the aftermarket accessories that car owner install inside their vehicles draw power from the electrical wiring of the car. This might turn out to be dangerous since these accessories might run on a different fuse capacity other than the electrical wiring. Additionally, there could be faults in the electrical wiring of the car that may cause car fire. Also, the wiring could be left exposed that could turn out to be the reason behind the car fire.

Carís Batteries

The carís batteries could be a reason for car fire. Since there are various electrical wiring and other components involved with a cars battery, it could catch fire easily. The vehicle uses current from the battery. Electricity is also generated when the carís battery is charged. Therefore, there are ample risks of fire. Any open wire can cause a fire. To prevent such conditions, all wires should be insulated properly.

Overheated Catalytic Converters

The catalytic converters and the exhaust systems of cars emit tremendous amounts of heat. This heat generated can melt the plastic components of the car. This will not only cause extreme damage to the catalytic converter, but also to the car. Even though the car is designed in such a way that it can cope with the temperature of the catalytic converter and the exhaust system. However, continuous emissions and heat can turn out to be dangerous and result in a fire.

It is important to take proper precautions to prevent any car fire incidents.

If the car fire is caused due to unknown reasons, getting in touch with accident investigators will be wise. If you live in Houston and have been a victim of a similar circumstance, you should contact Houston accident reconstruction experts. They can help you identify the reason behind the car fire.
