Hi there, I just ordered a 428i Alpine White with many bells & whistles which is very exciting for me since I have been driving a Honda Odyssey for the last 12 years. I owned a Lexus 400 before that, but after I retired, I needed a vehicle to haul my road bike and golf clubs, so the van suited my needs. Since I'm still riding a bike, I'm keeping the van (and my husband is keeping his 12 year old Lexus 300) but I wanted to drive something sexy, especially since I just turned 70, and how many years do I have to drive sexy left (hopefully a lot but you know what I mean.) !

I have a question which I hope someone can answer. The dealer says the car takes Premium gas, but a YouTube video which reviews the car says the 428i can take Regular Unleaded. What do owners advise? Comments, anyone?

So, my car has been built and will be shipped to California soon. Don't have a delivery date yet. PP

PS: For the record I did own a BMW 2002 from 1972-1979, but I was not the primary driver of the car (go figure!)

Hello! Congratulations on the order. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

I'm from the UK so I'm not sure how our fuel differs. There's a lot of debate here about the quality of cheaper supermarket fuels compared to big names like BP and Shell. I've never used premium fuel (I have a diesel though) and I've never had a problem! I stay away from the supermarkets though, just in case!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new ride!!

Well, consider this car has a turbocharged engine, I do recommend feeding it with the premium gas to prolong the life span of the turbo kit. Besides that, I believe the owner's manual also suggests the premium unleaded, but I haven't had a chance to check it.

If you put in the regular gas, yes you instantly save couple of bucks on a tank, however you will lose decent amount of power, have lower mileage and harm your engine+turbo. Your call :)

I'm newbie too! I ordered my BMW in December and it just arrived! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! In doing research and talking with our salesperson, definitely use the premium. Were in California do you live? We are in Ohio but my brother's friend owns a BMW dealership in Ca and helped me with my purchase:)
