AWD 4-series Convertible--Euro Delivery

I took European Delivery of 3-series convertibles in 2001 (330ci?) and 2007 (335i) when these were available only in RWD. (I highly recommend Euro Delivery at the new BMW Welt, btw) I'm ready to do this again if the convertible is available in AWD. I'm Denver resident and AWD makes this a 12-mo. car here.

My local dealer can't even confirm AWD for the 4-series convertible , but I see forum members ordering or expecting 428ix? Does anyone have info on if/when AWD 428 and 435 convertibles will be available, and when available for Euro Delivery?

I'm answering my own inquiry?
BMW Customer Relations, like my dealer, claimed no AWD 4 series convertible. Together they must star on the BMW Sales Prevention Team. I found an October press release from BMW announcing AWD in 428i convert, with 435 convert to be RWD "at launch"...suggesting maybe later?

The 428i Convertible will be offered with a choice of rear-wheel drive or with optional xDrive, BMWs intelligent all-wheel drive system, while the 435i Convertible will be available at launch with rear wheel drive.

Complete press release can be found here:

Below from BMW Customer Relations:

The BMW 4 Series Convertible is not available with xDrive, however the 4 Series Coupe is available with xDrive. We apologize for any dissatisfaction this may cause.

We suggest contacting the European Delivery hotline at 1-800-932-0831 for assistance with planning your flight. The sales team at your authorized BMW center can assist with questions and complete all necessary paperwork if you decide to participate in the European Delivery program. To read more about this excellent program, simply access our website at http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...y/default.aspx.

The BMW Customer Relations and Services Department is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. You can reach us at 1-800-831-1117.

Sincerely,

Laura Schiefer
