BMW has introducing an M4 featuring new engine technology.
While itís nothing groundbreaking, the M4 MotoGP pace car sports a water injection system designed to cool the air going into the intake side of the engine, which is especially important on a turbocharged engine. According to the German automaker, the water injection system is made ďto increase the performance and reduce the consumption of combustion engines.Ē
As a partner of MotoGP since 1999, BMW will be touting its M4 on the track this year as a pace car outfitted with carbon fiber goods, Recaro racing seats with Schroth harnesses, LED lights on the roof, a fuel pump system for overseas transport, coilover suspension and a BMW M Performance titanium exhaust.
The fleet of official MotoGP vehicles for the 2015 season will actually consist of six different BMW M and BMW M Performance models. Joining the M4 will be the M3, M6 Gran Coupe, M5, M550d xDrive and X5 M. Both the M3 and M6 Gran Coupe will also serve as safety cars while the safety officer will take to the track int he M5. Both the M550d xDrive and X5 M will be used as medical cars.
