One time I was driving home with my racing bike up on the yakima rack on my truck. I passed a state trooper and they slammed on their brakes, went into a power slide, almost hit another car, turned on his lights, and came after me.
After I was pulled over I asked the trooper if something was wrong with my bike figuring it had to be a dangerous situation for him to come after me so crazy, and the only dangerous situation I could think of was the bike was about to fall off of the rack into the street. He got pissed off, took me out of my truck, frisked me, had his partner keep his hand on his gun, etc.
The whole thing turned out to be that I did not have a front license plate on my truck. He cited me for missing the front license plate and sent me on my way.
At the time I was an assistant principal at a middle school, and with my luck two of my students witnessed the whole thing. It was the big joke at school for a couple of days.
